Team Visit to the Zailab BPO in Delft

The team recently paid a visit to the Zailab contact center in Delft, which the company helped establish to create much-needed local job opportunities.

Last year Zailab partnered with Home of Compassion and the Zoe Incubation Center, a community-led training provider, to establish a contact center and training facility in Delft, a township in the Western Cape province, South Africa, with the aim of providing skills and employment to members of the community.

Zailab provided the technology and hardware to equip the state-of-the-art contact center, which officially launched in February 2018.

In the months that followed, members of the community were successfully trained to work as agents within the contact center and the BPO’s first clients came on board.

One of the major benefits for members of the poverty-stricken community is the saving on transport costs previously lost through the long commute to the city. The contact center earned a visit from Western Cape Premier Helen Zille, who expressed her approval at the concept of bringing jobs home through the creation of job opportunities located closer to outlying communities.

Today, Zailab has become a proud client of the contact center it helped to establish and welcomed agents from Delft to its development headquarters in Cape Town, to receive training on Zailab’s cloud-based contact center platform.

Zailab’s VP of Marketing Marya Dzmitruk recently visited the site during her visit from the United States.

‘Delft is a township in Cape Town which has half a million people living here and an average income that translates to less than 300 dollars a month,’ says Marya. ‘We are creating opportunities in economically impoverished areas so people can become contact center agents. This is a model that we can definitely replicate in North America as well as anywhere else in the world.’

The Delft agents will be providing support to Zailab’s global client base.
