The Making Of The Zailab Lander

Meet the latest addition to team Zailab – The Lander.

Visitors to the Enterprise Connect expo in Orlando were surprised to see what looked like a moon-lander at the Zailab stand earlier this week.

The 12.8-foot-tall Lander was conceptualized and created in-house by the Zailab industrial design team, led by Industrial Design Director Roelf Mulder.

The brief from our CEO: to design an out-of-this-world showpiece that encompasses everything that Zailab stands for – our adventurous DNA, our passion for technology and our future-forward approach to design.

While The Lander may not be an operational spacecraft, it certainly offers an out-of-this-world experience for those who climb up the platform and enter through the automatic doors. Inside, video screens tell the Zailab story, from our humble beginnings and company values, to the many adventures the team has had along the way, culminating in the cloud-based solution we are all proud to have played a part in creating. LED lighting and holographic renders complete the experience.

The design of the lunar module ties in with the futuristic space theme that carries across the whole of Zailab, from our cloud-based platform dashboards and bespoke contact center hardware to the space-themed offices in the Cape Town development hub and the futuristic ZaiTruck that has inspired rewarding conversations across the globe.

Weighing a hefty 3,6 tons, the team had to create a specially-designed trailer to transport the Lander to the expo venue.
